The names Landing, Landen, Landon, and Driden were very common names in the censuses of the early 19th century in Somerset County. Two veterans of the war of 1812, Ezekiel Landen and Joseph Landen, may be relatives. William D. Landing is listed in both the 1850 and 1860 United States censuses for the Greater Annamessex District of Somerset County, Maryland. He was a farmer.
